Tidewater Physical Therapy Hosting Triathlon Training Session

Triathlon Training Tips: Transitions, the 4th Event

Tidewater Physical Therapy, Inc. in Gloucester is hosting a triathlon training event, focusing on how to best prepare for the transitions between events, April 10 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at its Gloucester Courthouse Clinic, located off of Main Street at 6965 Fox Hunt Lane.

Admission is free. RSVP by April 8 to Stephanie Heinatz at

Karen Kovacs, a practicing physical therapist, the Clinical Director of Tidewater’s location in Hayes and a USAT Level 1 Triathlon Coach, will discuss how to set up your gear in the transition area and provide suggestions for brick training workouts.

Natalie Conway, Tidewater’s Gloucester Regional Director, practicing physical therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer, will cover best practices for a dynamic warm-up during training and on the day of the event.

Justin Pretzel, a practicing physical therapist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Tidewater’s newest addition to the Gloucester team, will introduce how strength and performance training helps endurance athletes in events like triathlons. When Tidewater’s Performance Center opens on Main Street this summer (2012), Pretzel will serve as the liaison between the clinical operations and fitness and sports performance training.

Tidewater is proudly sponsoring the Ware Neck Triatha-FUN (WNT) charity event, currently in its second year. The WNT is a sprint triathlon with a 750m swim, 20km bike and 5k run for adults and 500m swim, 10 km bike and 3.2k run for youth. Both routes start and end at the Ware River Yacht Club. Proceeds from the event benefit Ware Academy.
